Looks like I’ll be rocking with HIRAX this year. Katon W. De Pena and I have been talking about jammin for years and now it’s finally happening. I had my first rehearsal with the band on Saturday and it was a lot of fun. Ready for South America in March. Super exited! Additional tour dates coming soon.

Greetings! It’s been a while since I posted or even updated my website. A lot has happened in the last 4 1/2 years. The unforeseen departure with the group Intronaut and of course the pandemic. After several bouts of depression and obstacles, I decided to move forward working with various musicians on new projects.
AVITUS – Toward the end of 2018, I teamed up with Guitarist Avi Tomer of the group (Invalids) to work on a new progressive metal project of his called Avitus.
We released our first EP, “Machina”, in November 2019. This release included session musicians Nick Shaw and James Dorton of the group Black Crown Initiate. The drums were tracked at The Captain’s Quarters with recording engineer Armand John Anthony in Ventura, California. The EP was mixed and mastered by Jamie King who has worked with bands such as Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, and Scale The Summit.
In January 2022, we released our second EP entitled “Pattern Recognition” with session bassist Ben Doyle. The drums were tracked again at The Captain’s Quarters with recording engineer Armand John Anthony in Ventura, California. Produced by Josh Newell (Linkin Park, Cynic, Intronaut) Mastered by Mat Leffler-Schulman.
O ZORN! – At the beginning of 2019, I attended a show of theirs in Ventura. I had already been a little familiar with the band from living in Long Beach. They blew me away live. Their brand of hardcore heavy doom rock with a dose of punk energy was what attracted me to these guys. After their set, I was approached by guitarist Billy Meyer and asked if I’d be interested in jamming with the band. I eagerly jumped at the chance to work with them. During this period I played a handful of shows with the group in LA and Ventura county while writing material for what would be their second album “Your Killer.”
In April 2019 we tracked at Studio 606 in Northridge, California with recording engineer John Lousteau. We had the pleasure of recording through the infamous Sound City Neve board. Getting the opportunity to do a record at Dave Grohl’s studio was an amazing experience. After finishing up “Your Killer”, we continued to play shows and signed with Seeing Red Records. The album was released on March 20, 2020. we were scheduled to play a record release show but was canceled due to the pandemic. Between Covid, transportation, and personal issues the group went on hiatus and eventually formed a new lineup.
BLIND JOHN POPE – After a year-long hiatus, the band reconvened to finish writing the 2nd album entitled “On And On…” Guitarist Sean McCormick was replaced by Christopher Nash Winner. The drums were tracked by John Haddad at Trench Studios in 2019. Guitars, bass, and vocals were recorded from home during the pandemic. Guest musicians included JP Bendzinski on Keys and Mike Brenner on on Lap Steel. Mixed and mastered by Sandford Parker at Electrical Audio in Chicago, Illinois. “On And On…” was released September 14th, 2021.
BEN WOODS – At the beginning of 2020, I teamed up with Flamenco guitarist Ben Woods to track 5 songs on the album entitled “Robots From Outer-Spain.” this album was an experiment of Flamenco guitar playing (but a nylon string Stratocaster) and Metal drums instead of the typical flamenco percussion of palmas, cajon, and zapateado. Some songs are rooted in the traditional Flamenco song forms, others not so much. The drums were recorded with John Haddad at Trench Studios in Corona, California. Guitars recorded by Ben Woods. Mixed and mastered by Bob Kowalski. “Robots From Outer-Spain” was released on July 4th, 2020.
Ben and I released a handful of play-through videos on YouTube. Sadly, Benjamin Woods passed away in 2022. I’m grateful to have known him and work with him. Not only was he a great musician; he was a visionary.
LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS – By the beginning of 2019, I started collaborating with guitarist and composer Mike Darin (Circuit Of Suns.) During the pandemic, we wrote music together through the Internet. Trading files and building arrangements. During that year we completed writing material for a new progressive metal project called Language Of Flowers.
In March 2020 I tracked drums at Backroom Studios in Rockaway New Jersey. Music was recorded and produced by Kevin Antreassian (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Mikhail Marinas. The group went through a handful of lineup changes and the tracks for this album sat on the shelf for a while. We entered the studio again in 2021 to add another song and tie up some loose ends. in 2022 we released two singles entitled “S.I.I.” and “Aconitum.” We hope to finish our debut record in the next couple of months.
CIRCUIT OF SUNS – In early 2020 guitarist Mike Darin sent me material for the newest Circuit Of Suns album and we worked on the songs from home. In November 2020 I tracked my drums in Cape Cod Massachusetts, at The Brick HitHouse. This album is still in the works.
~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~
The first time I heard O ZORN! I thought to myself, “Now here’s a band that’s doing it right.” Dank, downtuned, and deadly, with demonic vocals to seal the deal.
As they gear up for a second album, ‘Your Killer’ (2019), the Long Beach trio is presenting us with the first single, “Casket” (available as a free download here). It is here presented as a music video which was, incidentally, filmed with two iPhones, a GoPro, a pair of strobe lights and a fog machine. That’s what I call DIY. The song itself is as grungy and gritty as you could ask for. Can’t wait for its companions to see the light of day!
Give ear…
Heavy doom rock outfit O ZORN! announced earlier this month that drummer Danny Walker has jumped on board to deliver drum duties.
***NEW DRUMMER ALERT***
Danny Walker is now the new drummer for O ZORN!
You may know his name from his stints with Intronaut, Murder Construct, Exhumed, Jesu, Job For A Cowboy, Cloudkicker, Cephalic Carnage & Uphill Battle Danny additionally plays for Groups Phobia & Expulsion.
So yeah, Danny comes from a long line of kick ass bands. We couldn’t be happier. We’re currently finishing writing songs for new album, which should see it’s way into the world this summer. His drum work, as you can imagine, is fantastic. Welcome Danny! #dwdrums#meinlcymbals #vicfirthdrumsticks #aquariandrumheads #drums #dannywalkerdrummer
“I’m proud to announce that I am teaming up with Long Beach heavy hitters O ZORN! Their brand of heavy doom rock with a dose of punk energy Is what attracted me to these guys. They blew me away live and I think their music is fantastic and fun. At the moment we are piecing together material for an album. A lot of it is already written, but we are all contributing and I’m doing my best to embellish and bring my own style into this band. We got some shows coming up in March. If you’re interested in hearing what they’ve done in the past there’s an older album up on band camp. Check it out! Add these dudes on social media!

Intronaut would like to thank all you amazing people for your continued support of our band over the past decade, and especially with the release of our latest album. You guys are the best fans ever, and we’re lucky to have you! We are very excited to announce our first headlining run of 2016, with support coming from two bands we love.
The Ocean are a band that Intronaut has a long history with, as they helped us get our footing in Europe almost a decade ago, and we have played close to 100 shows with them over the years. They are an incredible live force that only gets better every time I see them, and we’re honored to have them do this tour with us. If you’ve never had a chance to witness their show, I highly recommend you not miss them on this tour. North are another band we have known for many years who have a crushing new record coming out this year. There will also be some great locals opening in many of these cities.
To give you an idea of our show, we are planning on playing all the songs from “The Direction Of Last Things,” as well as some songs from all our past records. We are also working hard on a beefed-up visual production that should take you from zero to I’m-freaking-out-man in record time.
See you all this spring!
Los Angeles based post progressive metal band INTRONAUT have begun work on their 5th full length album. The album will be recorded with Josh Newell (Cynic) with Devin Townsend handling the mixing.
Vocalist/ guitarist, Sacha Dunable comments: “Really pumped on these songs. Overall its going to be a bit more dense and brutal than the past couple records, but mostly still the Intronaut you’ve grown to love or hate. We’re tracking mostly live like real men in a real band, at Clearlake Audio, where we did “Valley Of Smoke” with Josh Newell once again engineering. Then we’re sending it off to Devin Townsend to mix, which is super exciting.”
Named the best metal band by the LA Weekly, INTRONAUT formed in 2004 and have released 4 full length studio albums and two EPs. They’ve toured with Tool, Mastodon, Animals As Leaders, TesseracT and were the backing band for multi-instrumentalist, Cloudkicker on his first and only national tour.
INTRONAUT are:
Sacha Dunable – guitar, vocals
Joe Lester – bass
Dave Timnick – guitar, vocals, percussion
Danny Walker – drums

A day before entering the studio to record their as-yet-untitled fifth full-length album with producer Josh Newell (Cynic) and Devin Townsend on the mixing console, Intronaut played a 45-minute set here and made it a truly special, exclusive occurrence for attendees. Sandwiched between two older songs that began and ended the set, they presented four brand new tunes in instrumental form, as guitarist/vocalist Sacha Dunable pointed out that the vocals for the new jams hadn’t been worked out yet. The next time they step on a stage they will most likely have vocals on these, so Intronaut fans in the audience genuinely felt fortunate to be able to experience the band’s new material in its purest incarnation.
Every time Intronaut convinces listeners that they might have hit their peak as songwriters and performers, they go on and outdo their own previous efforts. The same is the case with their brand new creations which take their progressive tendencies to unchartered extremes, encompassing an incredible degree of diversity within itself, ranging from the heaviest to the most psychedelic. The impact of their music is undoubtedly amplified live which showcases the four members’ expertise on their respective instruments. Sacha Dunable and Dave Timnick hold the forefront on guitars and vocals, meanwhile Danny Walker on drums and Joe Lester on bass (as well as with his endlessly oscillating head) embody the rhythm. Even though they were playing to the backdrop of Meshuggah’s artwork and in front of a crowd that was very much here solely for the headline act, in this writer’s completely honest opinion Intronaut stole this show, and if ever there were to be a scenario where Intronaut and Meshuggah were playing their own separate shows on the same night in town, Intronaut would be chosen within the blink of an eye.

Thanks to everyone that came out catch one of these 10 year Anniversary gigs!
“We’re taking a break from writing a new record to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a band with this special run of shows. We haven’t finalized a set list yet, but expect at least one song from every release, and maybe a special guest or two to come out and help us play them. Joining us on these shows will be our Canadian friends Anciients, and the LA show will feature Ides Of Gemini, Silver Snakes, and The Great Wall.
“We are also planning a couple special 10th Anniversary releases, hopefully to be available by this tour, so keep an eye out for that. Thank you to everyone who has supported Intronaut for these past 10 years! We love you forever.”

The rumors were true as TesseracT, Intronaut and Cloudkicker‘s tour has been officially announced. Members of Intronaut will be fleshing out the backing band for Cloudkicker on the run, which will mark their first-ever live tour. Cloudkicker mastermind Ben Sharp stated:
“This just happened to be a time when Intronaut was free and, incredibly, I was able to get the entire month of April off from work. We have been in touch since 2010 and they had told me a few times that we could make this happen, but it wasn’t until last fall that I decided to give it an honest effort. Having the professionalism and technical proficiency of a band like Intronaut was the piece of the puzzle that finally encouraged me to pursue this since they are making it so easy for me. I know that when we show up for the first night of the tour everything will be locked in and we can just focus on having a good time.
Intronaut themselves said of the matter:
“When we first met Ben a few years back and discovered the Cloudkicker album “Beacons“, we unanimously fell in love with it and have since bugged him to let us be his band. Now it is finally happening. Intronaut is absolutely over the moon about this once in a lifetime opportunity for Cloudkicker fans to hear his stuff live. Sweetening the deal even further is the fact that we get to do the tour with our favorite British chaps in TesseracT. This tour is going to kick ass!”
